Default 501 HP / 460 TQ......."Cam Only" LS3 (PIC's and VIDEO)

FINAL (SAE) DYNO RESULTS ARE IN...501.0 RWHP / 459.7 RWTQ

My factory baseline #'s were...
388HP
392TQ

"Cam Only"...meaning 100% factory block and untouched LS3 heads w/ supporting mods (headers/intake/tune)

I purchased a brand new 2010 Corvette a few weeks ago and dropped it off w/ John@21st Century Muscle Cars in Dallas to have the following parts installed...

2010 LS3 Corvette MN6 w/ 500 miles
-21st Century CMC-30 cam 227/239 .629 .623 114LSA
(idle set@700rpm)
-LG Superpro 1 3/4"" headers (no cats)
-B&B bullets for 3" exhaust
-ATI 10% UD pulley
-LSXr 102mm intake (hasn't been ported)
-Nick Williams 102mm billet throttle body
-Halltech Superbee 102mm air intake
-Comp 921 spring kit, titanium retainers, harden seats
-Comp 7.4" harden pushrods
-Cloyes timing chain
-160* thermostat
-Hurst Billet shifter
-dyno tuned by Matt Garzonie

I chose to use 21st Century Muscle Cars based on the quality of work and attention to detail on my last 2006 C6 Magnacharged car.

21st Century CMC-30 cam (proprietary grind by Comp Cams for 21st)
227XER /239XER 114
intake .629 lift
exhaust .623 lift

Thanks for the comments!

I've been a registered forum member here for almost 10 years and have used MTI/HPE/LG/Speed Demon/RPM/21st Century on the last half dozen cars I've owned and have seen many vendors/sponsors come and go over the years. I don't really keep up with who is in the "in crowd" this week.....so I'm not here w/ an agenda, but I do give credit when credit is due. Hope every one understands.

Guys were hitting those numbers or better a couple of years ago on LS3s without the FAST intake and TB upgrades.

I am more impressed with the "lack of" bucking at 1000rpms and that water not spilling!!! I LOVE IT! I just got my cam tuned to drop to 1400rpms without bucking and I can forget about the cup thingy....

Those are some really nice numbers. Do you have any plans of running it down the 1/4 mile? I would be very interested to see how it performs.

Might be so but 500 to the tire is still pretty rare and lucky imo(cam only that is) Nice work!

Thanks!

I assume you're talking about the 2008 GMC Yukon Denali 421AWHP on 24's, L92, all motor LS HOT CAM, KOOKS...that's impressive #'s considering AWD on 24's! But I was thinking the GM hot cam was fairly tame, being 219/228 .525 112LSA ? What made you decide to go with a GM aftermarket cam over the others?

No plans right now, I rarely had time to drive my other blown LS2 car that was built for me last year....I did a write up on that one a while back too.

Nice writeup with good looking work. It is unfortunate there is so much politics, backstabbing, and jealousy on this forum. It leads to lots of misinformation. Are forum members lives so empty and meaningless that all they can do is talk s---t about someones hard work and good fortune. Besides dyno numbers are as honest as head flow numbers and the people publishing them.

No I am talking about my JG RCSB truck. It is a 6spd. Not in my sig yet. Denali is the wife's. It still drives like stock with a nice lope.

You are correct that 500 rwhp is very nice..I was not saying that there was anything wrong with his numbers .... just pointing out that folks had been putting down higher numbers without spending the $$ for a FAST and a aftermarket TB ... getting the most bang for your buck is what a lot of folks on here are looking for ... there are many shops and some are better than others obviously...it is really pretty EZ to get to 500 with the LS3 compared to the LS1,LS2, and LS6

Not with the drivability and mild idle speed showing in his videos. Some of us do care about the level of NVH it takes to achieve a given power level.

There are some LS3s vettes running around at 500 RWHP + without touching the heads, but the majority of cammed LS3 vettes are not going over 490 RWHP without a pretty big bumpstick. Even some of the "stock heads" LS3s over 500 RWHP had a thinner gasket or flycut the pistons to allow for proper PTV.

Thats a lot of HP for such a little cam. Id be curious how much the TB/intake was worth.

Damn right it is! Imo fast 102 is a piece of **** but i try to get every little bit i can...........You can definately waste some money on an ls3 without getting too much of a gain...Cam is the way to make power...Everything else gain is minimal(decent gains with a really good set of heads)
