Default 1969 Firebird tire upgrades?

Hi ya'll, What would be the best upgrades size wise (wheel suggestions cool too) for a 69' bird with stock rally 14's? i think it can only fit like 225 Fronts & 255's R? I am coming from a 4th gen so idk whats what with these classic cars and my ls1 has 275/315 meats, I was thinking maybe I could fill er up with 17" torque thrust II's, 17 front 18 rear at the most!!, or 16 & 17 if they make them staggered. 245 front 275 or larger rear? it has the old school type radial tires on it with balding and cracks and I need traction and some increased safety in the rain, gonna ditch the dr's too. suggestions/comments greatly appreciated;

I would be ok with 15" wheels all around if i could fit at least 265 out back; shes stock height btw.

Thanks guys

The first gen f-bodies are rather tight in the wheel wells.

Without body mods, most are using a 245/45-17 Front & 275/40-17 Rear
as a max size. 315's will need a minitub or tires hanging out of the fenders.
These lower profiles usually require some lowering to make them look good, since the factory tires were much taller.

With 15's 225 or 235/60 Front are common with 245 or 255/60 Rear.

I run 215/65-15 Front & 245/60-15 Rear & planning to up to 255/60's.

275/60-15 fit on the rear but tend to need the rear lifted or the wheelwell lips trimmed for clearance.
