Default What cylinder heads with this camshaft?

Guys I recently installed a 228/230 .588/.592 112 LSA camshaft in my 2000 TransAm. I'm still deciding on what heads I should get with this combo. I want to stay below 1500 on a set of cylinder heads. I'm pretty sure I want to get a set of Prc's from Texas speed. I was either going to buy these PRC LS6 Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads or PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads. This head and cam swap will also be paired up with a ported fast 102mm intake manifold. I will also be spraying a 100 shot of nitrous on top of this setup occasionally. Any advice on which of these 2 heads will be the better option?

There is already a similar thread about this.
But personally I'm going with 2.5 LS6 heads.
Or I'm going to send my stock 243's to AI.

That cam is semi-small and will do good with the prc 2.5 heads.

I've got some AFR 205 heads I'd sell you for $1,600.00. I've never installed them and they are milled down to 62cc. There have been quite a few setups with that size cam and the AFR heads, and the numbers are awesome. PM me if interested.

For a more budget oriented head, I'd go with the PRC Stage 2.5 LS6's!

They will make a few extra hp/tq over the 5.3's, from idle to redline!

Was texas speed running a sale? Their prices seemed to go up after yesterday and I was planning on buying these things today.

There was a special that ran for a few weeks that ended at the start of business this morning. I am sure there will be another sale starting in a few weeks for tax time!

How much horsepower are you giving up if you decide to go with the prc 1.0 ls6 heads compared to the 2.5 ls6 prc's? I mean the difference in flow at 500 and 600 lifts is only like 3cfm.

The difference one to another, on the average combo, will be about 5hp or so at peak.

I put a set of top sponsor(not gunna say who) budget heads on my car once. I was happy ti'll i saw what afr heads were doing to others. I tried AFR 205 heads over my budget heads and gained 3 tenths alone. They were just plain out of the box heads and they killed the sponsors cnc ported heads. I now have trick flow 235 heads on a 402ci and am happy with what the car does. Remember you get what you pay for. I'm a fan of AFR and TRICK FLOW for a reason. As for PRC heads,i am not knocking their heads. I don't know enough about them to say anything.
