Thumbs up First Place @ Hot Rod Sunday & Took some In-Car Videos!

WOOT! Took home First Place Today!!!

I raced in the "Hot Rod Sunday" at Moroso Motorsports Park in West Palm Beach, FL. I entered in the "Pro ET" class, no electronics, foot brake only etc..

I went 6 rounds to bring home the Money! The car was fricken unstoppable!! Today she was the most consistant I've ever seen her.

Look at these 6 runs..

ET: 10.74
ET: 10.74
ET: 10.73
ET: 10.69
ET: 10.69
ET: 10.69

The weather dropped and got a little cooler after my 3rd run, you could feel the temp drop. I compensated on the dial-in with a 10.68 for my last 3 runs. Semis:10.69/10.68 Quarters:10.69/10.68 Finals:10.69/10.68 Now that is one CONSISTANT car!!

God Damn I love my race car... LS1

Anyway, I also made a camera mount for my roll bar, I got some pretty cool in car video footage from inside the SS.

This first video was during open time runs. I wanted to mess with the Harlan 2-step so I lanched off the transbrake @ 3000 rpms. Everyone said I pulled the front wheels 2 feet and carried them past the 60' I cut a 1.40 60' in this video...

2 Step Launch Video: In Car Video 1

This second video, I put the camera back in the car during Semi Finals, but I changed the mount on the camera to the upper roll bar, this was a much better angle. I didn't tighted down the camera bolt enough sorry about the Camera vibration...

Semi Final Win: In Car Video 2

You can see down track how I reeled this guy in that was a 1.42 60' also.

This was a great way to start off the racing season! Hopefully this is the first of many!

Lee

Thanks Coach!

Here's what I did with the EWP.. I wired the power for the EWP into the fans. I have the fans set to come on at 130* and 140*. When the fans kick on the EWP turns on as well. Down here in FL we race in 90* weather most of the year. BTW, I have the street version of the EWP with no thermostat in it.

I also have a manual fan switch, so when I flip the fans on in the pits with the car off it kicks on the EWP at the same time. This setup is working great down here. my racing temp is always 150*-170*, the car really likes this temp.

I am still running the stock motor mounts that with the car hehe.

I would love to goto the Spring break shoot out, but my wife is expecting in April with our twins =). I don't want to travel too far from home during March & April because with twins they could be born early. I am condisering going to the North vs South and also the Bristol Bash as long as it doesn't fall on a ET points weekend. I do have on my schedule the 2004 TR Southern shootout, that is a MUST ATTEND!

Here's my race schedule for the rest of the year:
Feb 8- Hod Rod Sunday (Winter Race) Pro ET, Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Feb 14- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 2), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Feb 28- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 3), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Mar- Pepsi Chevy Show, Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Mar 27- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 4), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Apr 4- Breathless Perf Fbody/Corv/Viper Shootout, Brandenton Motorsports Park FL
Apr 10- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 5), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Apr 24- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 6), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
May 8- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 7), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
May 29- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 8), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
June 12- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 9), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
June 26- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 10), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
July 10- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 11), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
July 24- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 12), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Aug 1- Hod Rod Sunday (Summer Race) Pro ET, Moroso Motorsports Park FL
ETB 8-28 Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 13), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Setp 18- Pro ET Brackets (Points Race 14), Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Oct 4- Pro ET $Gamblers Race$, Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Oct 15 to 17- World Street Nationals, Orlando Speed World FL
Nov 6 to 7- Thunder Racing Southern Shootout, No Problem Raceway LA
Nov 10- Night of Fire, Orlando Speed World FL
Nov 26 to 28- Mountain Dew NHRA Citris Nationals, NHRA Super Street & Pro ET, Moroso Motorsports Park FL
Dec 10 to 12- Snowbird Nationals, NHRA Super Street & Pro ET, Brandenton Motorsports Park FL

There are a few races that aren't listed that I am may or may not race in. It sucks being stuck down here in FL, all the big events are always either Texas or like Chicago, Kentucky, Jersey etc =(

Sweet. Thanks alot for the info.

I just had a motor plate and the race ewp installed last week. I have not had a chance to run the Hot Rod yet. Wrestling season will be over very soon and then it is to the track every weekend.

I also hope to have the new motor in some time in March.

Good luck this year and with the twins.

congrats Lee! I just got off the phone with my dad and he said there were over 200 cars racing @ Moroso yesterday, so good job coming out on top! Bummer you guys have a points race the weekend of super chevy in bradenton, but probably just as well that I don't have another good bracket car running in my class! Good luck this year, and maybe I'll catch you at a race sometime if I'm ever down south visiting my folks!

Thanks Derek! Man the track was mobbed with cars. Anytime there is a "daytime" race on a weekend its a mad house. Hey was your dad racing? Whats his name and what car/dragster does he have? I might know him.

I am still considering the Super Chevy show, racing in Bracket 2. We are able to buy 2 tech cards a year and get our 20 points for entering, so I might not bracket race that Sat. I'd like to go after the $1500 + contingency =) plus the notoriety of winning the Chevy show ya know, and I love racing at BMP.

Anyway if I don't see ya there good luck to you, and hopefully we'll see each other at the Div 2 finals hehe.

Lee,
Unfortunately Gainesville doesn't have the tech card deal, and we race points every weekend from 1st week in April until 2 weeks before the et finals in October
My dad was not in attendance, but he usually runs in super pro in a white 67 camaro that says "Boogaloo" on the doors in blue. He's been racing out @ moroso since 1985, and I ran there for a few years before heading to UF in 94.
Maybe i'll catch ya at super chevy...

Yea its my own fault though, my gears have never been loud. I was running 3.73 in there everyday before, it was quiet as a mouse. Well when I decided to go full race car mode, I went with 4.30. I installed the gears took a short drive then went racing that same night. I didn't even break in the new gears. The 4.30 didn't make a sound until after my first pass. It didn't matter to me at that point because I only hear the whinning during my shutdown down and when turning off onto the return road. And I don't street drive the car anymore.

Congrats again dude, yesterday was sooo much fun!!! Hopefully i'm legal for the Pepsi Chevy show!!! It'll be really weird though if we get lined up next to each other!!!!

By the way, my gear whine when it winds down is almost as loud as urs and I gotta drive mine everyday, it sounds like a ******* jet engine winding down after a run!!!

John,
Yeah I've been up in Gainesville for a while.... I took the "7-year" plan (changed majors after 80 credits, then had a full-time job the last 3 years I was in school). My wife and I love it up here compared to our hometowns (Palm Beach Gardens for me and Fort Lauderdale for her).
