My $1.00 Bumper Plug Fix
Ok, so the V came with a front license plate bracket when I bought it....yuck! So I drilled the rivets out and found this:
6 years of dirt and grime along with a scuff mark from where it rubbed the paint...
So I cleaned it up, but now i'm left with four holes!
So, being unwilling to pay out the *** for bumper plugs online , I went to home depot. These are what I found:
So I poked a few holes in some cardboard to hold these. Used some black touch up paint that I had laying around and tossed a quick coat of clear over top.
Final result:
Looks pretty good for 88 cents plus tax! Even better that the ugly license plate bracket is gone. The bumper will eventually need repainted, but this will do for now.

I had the same problem and 'paid out the ***' for Bumper Plugs, but based on the pics, your idea looks as good as what I have.
Though you may have a slight advantage matching gloss black with a rattlecan vs. my redline.

1) Convicts too busy watching oprah to make twice as many plates as they do today
2) Emissions is a complicated thing, no state employees are qualified
