something is putting a unnecessary load on the vehicle. Does he have a stereo system installed in the vehicle? sounds to me like the alternator is going to ****. What i would do i perform a load test on the battery and check to see what the current volts/amps are at. should be able to go to a local shop/auto store and get that done. then i would do a alternator ouput test to make sure the alternator is charging correctly and that all your diodes are good. Hope this can help some......

Wouldn't hurt to check your connections and cables, too...

Sounds like either an alternator problem or the alternator wire. Also check the battery cable ends for bad corrosion. Remove the bols from the cable ends to clean em out the best. Or as asked, too much bump in dat trunk!

Ive come to the conclusion that this hapens the worst when the headlights are on. Im guessing the alternator is just weak and that it cannot handel the load? Does this sound logical? Im thinking i need to get a new alternator.

Could be, but when you have an alternator replaced, the connections all get cleaned. Or at the least the removal and re-install would knock and corrosion off. So replacing the alternator doesn't rule out a connection problem.

Voltage regulator in the alternator is wacked. Replace the alternator. Mine is a PepBoys special, going on like 5 years old, it just started doing this last week. Lifetime warranty though.

Mine is doing the same thing. I'll look into cleaning the wires. Because it does it sometimes... like tonight, went to get something to eat, and the whole way there the headlights were fading. As I left the place, it didn't do it anymore.

The alternator wire can be replaced if needed right?
