Default Gas mileage question.

Sorry if this is a redundant question. I have a buddy looking at a 06 gto with a m6. He is wondering if the gas mileage is comparable to my 02 Z28 at aroud 24-25 mpg on the highway in stock form.

2002 Z-28 with 5.8 LS1 310hp/340tq
mileage City-16/23 Highway
2006 GTO with 6.0 LS2 400hp/400tq
mileage City-14/19 Highway*
(I could only find data for the A4 Goat) Damn you Edmunds...
probably pointless for your liking, sorry in advance.

Last track outing I went 12.05 at 113.5....and pulled 24.7 @ 75mph on the 80mi trip home with my slicks, skinnies, jack, tools, and a passenger.

I normally average 19-21 to a tank with city/highway. Its all about playing with the throttle

I try not to use cruise control on the highways as much as I can. My GTO gets better mileage than my 350Z did on the city side. With mods in my sig I get around 310miles to a tank with a 3200 stalled A4. About 75% of my driving is highway.

The M6 is going to get better mileage than an auto. You should be getting around 25ish highway and 18 city if driven reasonably. The '04s were blessed with an Australian computer and have a lean cruise ability that can be tuned in and get near 30 highway. I have a cammed '04 M6 that's over 400 RWHP and 3.91 gears and get 25-26 highway with lean cruise enabled

My stock M6 '05 got 25-28 on the freeway, 70-80mph. Only around 17 in town tho, if that, but right foot weighs more than left.

my '05 m6 got 28mpg all highway on the way to new york. driving back and forth to work with mixed driving conditions it averages 22.5mpg. for comparisons sake, my 2002 malibu with a 3.1L gets 24mpg average driving back and forth to work.
