Default PRC 227's and MS4

Ok I have been running the MS4 with LS6 heads from TSP. curious if anybody is runnung the 227's with MS4 and whether or not you cut the pistons? I would love to avoid it. Guess I should probably just clay em so I would need to find a writeup on that. Any opinions?

I'm currently running the same setup as you and just ordered the 227's for the same reason. After a long discussion with Jon at TSP he assured me there was no issues with valve clearance with the MS4 w the 227's. Just don't expect to mill them for more compression. Call TSP, they'll be happy to take the time to talk to you about it. Just got mine in last week. Prob be a while before I can get them installed though.

I have talked to Jon. Guess I'm just being paranoid. I'm going to go ahead and clay just to make sure. I have all winter to get it done. Plus I have to measure for PR.

or you can get the LS6 heads worked By Tea and really make power. Word had it they re did there 243 cnc program and the 2.0 before killer. I would like to see what the new one is doing. But thats just my .02

Well it def can't hurt to check the clearance, clay is cheap, broken parts are not. I'll be checking it myself, just for my own piece of mind as well. Though I'm confident that its not required on a stock rotating assembly, based on my conversation with Jon at TSP. It's going to be a while before I can get them put on, but when I do I'll PM you with the clearance #'s and post them here. Shoot me a PM if you get them installed before I do if you would with the #'s.

Shouldn't have a problem. However, it is a good idea to double check PTV before firing but the heads are setup with proper PTV clearance to work with that camshaft.

Thanks for the input Jon. It would seem that there is a lot of mystery with these heads still with everyone on this site. I've gotten several PM's in regards to the 227's since posting that I had purchased a set asking questions. I've refered them all to you. Their just paper weights at the house at this point till I get a chance to put them on so I have no results, valve clearance numbers or push rod lengths to share or report. Might not be a bad idea to post some more info on them and some dyno results - youd prob get a few more sales from the people on the fence and id like to see it myself. There's just not a lot of info available on these heads.

I would agree with above. The main thing that sold me was how well their car ran. Hoping to get good numbers and more inportatntly good times out of these. I was told to go with the 227 over the 215 since I plan on spraying the car.

There will be more numbers on cars coming in the near future. We have a couple customers getting ready to bolt them on and get us some numbers.

On the PTV. I checked with Jason and we are within .005" difference between these heads and a factory cylinder head. In the grand scheme of things, not a big number and is fine with running the MS4 cam. However, with any combo, we recommend guys to check things just in case something is install incorrectly with the cam, valvetrain, etc. It's easier to catch that stuff before it is run and ends up messing something up in the engine.

Yep more results arent too far off. As Jon said above a set is going on my car as well as some other customers. Im definetly excited to see how these beautiful pieces perform on my car, along with some other changes the car is currently going through.

I would like to see some numbers and track times from the prc heads. I would like the numbers to be from guys like me who put it togeather in their garage and go get it tuned on a dyno who did not sell them the product. Then nobody can say anyone tried to inflate numbers.

well I know the cam is installed correctly since my motor has not grenaded yet. What clay do you guys use to check this? And Thanks again to Jon and all of TSP. Great guys to deal with.

Send a set this way John I will give them a direct comparision to my 215 TFS heads...

I think a key benefit is the smaller chambers (59cc) iirc and still close to stock ptvc...that is great for people not looking to flycut...

once I get my setup all done it will be a comparison between PRC LS6's and the 227's. I will be changing intakes and TB's Injectors along with adding some spray so it wont be direct replacement. We will see how they like the juice though
