Default LT1 to LSx head swap...?

I recently purchased a 95 Z28 convertable automatic with an LT1. This is my first late model project, and I don't know much about the LTx and LSx engine series. What if any interchangeability is there between the LT and LS engines? Will LS1 or LS2 heads bolt onto an LT1?

There was an article in car craft (i think) a few months back on an aftermarket SBC block that accepts LS heads.

AC is correct. However lt1 heads are very good for porting and you can make big power with worked stock castings.

Thats a bit dissapointing. I was really hopeing for more interchange between LTx and LSx engines. What is the difference between the two heads? Bolt pattern? Bore spacing? Overall dimensions?

You aint got a enough time or money to make LSx heads work on a LTx. In short, it wont happen.

Time and money are not a issue. I will be doing all the work myself. I did a chevy OHV head conversion on my model T speedster engine a couple years ago, that involves cutting the head in half, and a fair bit of machining. Nothing is impossible if you have the time, patcience, and desire...

LT is a 5 bolt, LS is a 4 bolt.

LS1 head:

LT1 block:

Have fun with that. It's not going to happen, nor is it even worthwhile to put thought into HOW you could do it.

If you want them to fit correctly then modify the K-member into a LS one, and get you some kind of Gen III/IV block..
