I have been researching torquer cams for my stock low mile lq4. I will be running the stock lq4 intake and T56 six speed in my 52 AD rat rod. I am looking for big block torque if possible. I like the feel of a strong pulling engine when pulling through the gears. I will not be racing just looking for a hard pulling cruiser. Some will say stay with the stock cam but I like the sound of some of the thumper cams and I like the old hot rod sound of the cams. I would like both torque power and choppy sound if that is possible. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

LPE GT11 pulls strong in a 6.0. sounds good thru open exhaust.

Thanks for the replies. I will be running 295/60's in the rear. I have shorty headers and will most likely run a bullet style muffler. I'm not sure on the exhaust yet.

LQ4 is only 9.4:1, so choose a cam with a fairly early intake closing. This does limit your top end, but helps build some much needed dynamic compression.
Better yet, get the heads milled 0.030", and be at 9.9:1.

With that being said, I'm now looking at 110 LSA cams. Top end is not an issue with this build. Just a cruiser looking for a lot of low in grunt with a choppy idle. I'm not going to remove the heads at this time.

I don't believe you're going to find any shelf cams, you'll probably need something custom.
In your situation, the only shelf cam I'd consider is the Speed Inc. TBSS cam.
214/220-111.5 558/563. This will work with the affordable LS6 springs, and have a noticeable idle, especially with headers.
Part of why I'd go this way is I believe they could provide me a baseline tune to go along with their cam.

Check out the ASA cam if your looking for a strong low-mid range cam.
Im very happy with it and it sounds nice also.
