Default Cam without headers...thoughts??

I can't find any information on folks with an LS1 running a cam without headers.

2002 ws6, m6, stock everything (clutch too) except an SLP lid, GMMG catback, and subframes.

My goal is to get to 380 rwhp through stock manifolds with decent gas mileage.

I live in California. My car is my daily driver. I dont want to have to deal with "smog" every 2 years here in CA. So I have been thinking about doing a mild cam/major valvetrain overhaul. All of this without taking off the stock manifolds.

I've heard of some mild cams like the EPS cam write up on that old school car with the LS1.

Does anyone on here run there daily driven car with a cam and through stock manifolds.

What were you're gains? Was it worth the expense ($2,500+ tune included) in the end?

Do a search for Thunder Racing's "CheaTR" cams.
Also, search that thread by Pat G, where the LS6 with EPS 218/230-115 cam made 400 rwhp through stock '00-'02 Z28 exhaust manifolds, despite a Ford 9" rear axle.
Either of these approaches should make you happy. Both will pass Cali emissions, as far as overlap goes.

it was a ls1 with bone stock ls6 heads and intake in a 34 ford. i plan on running the same cam. made 40x rwhp and 39x tq. at 2300 rpm it was making 350 ft lbs of tq. quite nice for a car without long tubes. op i feel u with the smog thing. there are cams out there that can give u nice results but its gonna b more about the combo than the cam if u r staying with the exhaust manifolds.

Continental DWS tires= $800 mounted/alligned
Koni Shocks/Strano springs/labor=$1500
Cam/valvetrain/tune/labor= $2500 +/- a few bucks (no i can't do this myself)

So just to have a fun/reliable/great all around performing daily driver..$4800 dollars, so no there are no plans for heads.

Any left over cash would go towards replacing the stock clutch for an LS7 set up.

Heads would make sense, but if the funds aren't there and other things are more of a priority then it makes no sense at the moment.
