Default 2002 Tahoe electric fan?

I have a friend who swapped a 5.3 (flex fuel engine w/matching PCM) into a Wagoneer, and we're now at the point of deleting rear 02's, auto trans sensors, purge solenoid, tank pressure sensor, etc in the PCM.

A few questions:

1) Is it possible to add the ability to control an electric fan to a pcm (411) in a 2002 Tahoe (flex fuel)? It would be nice to not have to add another sensor to the cooling system. The PCM pinout mentions nothing regarding fan control. Is it just a matter of having a segment added or swapped? If so, what pin would then be used as the fan relay "signal" lead?

2) What is the proper way to disable the E85 abilities in the pcm? As I understand it, the PCM performs a testing procedure once it senses that a refueling event has taken place. This swap has none of the associated sensors, so I've deleted all DTC's in the PCM that relate to tank pressure sensor, purge valve, etc. Is there more that needs to be done? We started the vehicle tonight, and it seems to run like a watch...I just want to make sure that all is good.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice. I can also post a .hpt bin if it will help.

You can run fans off of the 0411 like a Vette or F-Body. You will need to change some settings

The E85. Hmmm Just put a different non E85 Calibration in it. Do you have the Sensor?

We thought about using a non-e85 cal, but the injectors on the L59 flow more than a LM7....so we decided against that for obvious reasons. We also do not have the tank pressure sensor (custom fuel cell), or the level sending unit connected to the PCM.

Is it possible to add a fan control segment to the bin? It appears to not have that option natively in the bin, but I will double-check.

Well, I looked through the cal and still can't tell for sure. The segment list is as follows:

1-12216125
2-9357732
3-9358972
4-9358200
5-16264431
6-16264688
7-9373647
8-9359144

Controller- p01
seed- 11B0

Not sure if this helps.

The E85 sensor that you would need is in front of the Fuel Filter

I will look in the file for a way to disable Flex

I have 3 bin files from different E85 vehicles that match yours.

HPT can change over to two fans (see pic) but does changing it get rid
of the recirculation code?

Both pin 33 red, and 42 blue are not switching from ground....they are permanently grounding.

I will work on it. I see I need to flip a bit. It is possible that the AC is turning on both fans.

I suppose it's possible, but there are no A/C inputs hooked up on this build....but ya never know :-) I also flashed back in the original file, and same thing.

2002 Tahoe, Flex Fuel

Reviving an old thread, but I am in the middle of doing an Electronic fan conversion on my 2002 Tahoe. If I am reading the schematics correct, I put the Dark Blue wire into pin 33 of the Red Connector. But on my PCM, 33 is already populated?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Tap into it. It goes to the AC system and will turn on the fan when AC is requested.

That is not correct. Red 33 is for A/C Auto Air Recirculation on a 02 Tahoe. You can use that pin for fan 2 control but you have to reassign it's function in the PCM calibration. Don't tap into the wire. Remove it and replace it with the fan harness wire. This is assuming you are using the aftermarket 2 PCM wire fan harness usually sold for the 03+ vehicles or an OEM harness.
