I want to wax my Hot Rod. What to use? Ok, Guys. I want to wax my Hot Rod for this up coming racing season. What do I use?
I have never waxed my Hot Rod since got it new in Sept. 2001. She has always been kept in the garage.
I will be taking off all the stickers. Off the windows and the sides of the Hot Rod. What should I do here? Is there a product out there I should use?

Getting a great shine finish is a process, not a product.
I'd reccomend you polish the paint using a Dual Action polisher and then "wax" using a sealant of your choice (some people like zaino, I prefer blackfire). Also, you might look over at www.showcargarage.com for some reviews on the new meguiars NXT polymer that is being released right now. Especially if you've never waxed the car, a good polishing job is essential.

Getting a great shine is truly a process that can take awhile if you are looking for the ultimate finish. I too prefer the Blackfire products over Zaino and the other products i have tried. You can get a lot of great info from www.Properautocare.com

You're going to want to remove the contaminents that have built up on your car since 2001. I would suggest, after washing with dawn soap, and clay baring the entire car, braking out the orbital buffer and going to town with a mild abbrassive like 3M Perfect-it II. Then moving on to a good polish and wax of your choice. Good luck!
And do your car a favor and wax it at least 2-3 times a year. Your paint will thank you for it.

Ok, help a dumb bracket racer out. What is clay baring? I understand about washing it with dawn soap but do not know what clay baring is? I understand braking out the orbital buffer and going to town with a mild abbrassive like 3M Perfect-it II. Then waxing her down.

Forget the Zaino Site. Go to AutoZone, buy yourself ALL the products you need there, including the clay bar from Mothers. Follow the directions. Basically spray on the spray stuff they give you, and rub or massage the clay bar on your car. You'll see when you get it.
YOu can get the 3M perfect-it II stuff there too. And you probably already have a orbital so you should be golden. Good luck!

I agree that it is the process but the finished product depends on what you use. I've been waxing cars for a long time and I've used a lot of products over the years. THE best I've used is Zaino. And by the way, that is a hot rod.

If you have to get anything from autozone stick with the mothers or meguiars.....
Clay bars take all of the crap out of the clear coat, best way to go about this is to get a spray bottle and mix a cap of carwash into it and fill with water........
This is used as the lube, do 2ftx2ft areas at a time and start from one side and work your way down, do not go in a circular motion because some of the stuff that you might take out could make some good size surface scratches.......
I still am preaching to get zaino if you want the best look & shine.......
