Default Who's running milled 317's???

Looking at bang for buck ported heads. Trying to see if a set of milled 317s rival the performance if ported 243/799 heads. I know the casting is generally the same, but will the performance be similar?

It depends how much the 317s were milled. The farther you mill down a head the farther your flow decreases so if you try and make a 317 have the same combustion chamber as a 243 head you will have heads that flow less. Also take into account that milling the heads that far will also kill piston to valve clearance not allowing you to run as large of a cam as you may want.
