Default Msd 6420 on 1997 TA

I am trying to hook up a used MSD 6al 6420 to my 97 lt1, but I am not too sure on how to wire it up. I do have the harness PN 8877 but I am not sure if I have it hooked up correctly. I have the black to the black the orange to the orange the white to the red and the red to the white; It did start this way. I also had it white to white, red to red, orange to orange, black to black, but it would not start.

This doesn't help your wiring dilemma, but what are your mods? If you're N/A, an aftermarket ignition is a complete waste of time. Spare yourself hacking up your factory wiring and sell it.

I bought the box used and it was hooked up to the 1997 harness white/white, black/black,red/red, orange/orange; but it would not spark or start like this. So I hooked the red to the white and the other white to the red and it started, but it was not running well at all. I am wondering if I have a defective box. The car just might be getting a 100 shot if I can get this box to work correctly first and install a timing control, but I need to be sure the box is working correctly first. Here is how it is shown on msd's site http://www.msdignition.com/uploadedF...structions.pdf
