the actual bore of the LS1 is 3.898 so going .07 will give you a 3.905 bore which is common for aftermarket pistons.

No! .005 yes .... .007 maybe. The newer LS1/LS6 blocks max out at approximately .012.

You do mean 3.898 + .007 = 3.905...right?

Wrong! You can go more than .007 on the newer LS1/LS6 blocks if necessary. The 97/98 blocks are more restrictive when it comes to honing than the newer revised blocks.

Either go 3.905 or get an iron block.

3.905 pistons seem to be more common

Yes .007 pistons will be on the shelf items. Or you can go 3.910 which will be the max you can go on an ls1 block without re-sleeving. But 3.910 pistons are made though and I think are on the shelf to.

3.905" is .007" over not .07" over. The stock bore is 99mm which is 3.898". Some companies offer a .25mm oversize which is about .010" over, probably too much.

Really, and I though that 3.998 bore would work just fine. Your opening up the cylinder by thousandths (.005) not hundreds (.05) but,if you insist give it a try...just kidding.

If I were you the .005 is the maximum I would go on a 98 block. There is no benefit going larger...it doesn't even equate to one cubic inch...good luck.

think he had to take it out the .005 to get the cylinders right. believe me im not trying to spend the money on these pistons for the 98 block. id rather wait.
