Speed limiter on F-body????

Speed limiter on F-body???? I have a friend that says that all cars have govenors or speed limiters is this true??? I've taken my car up pretty high so I dont think it has one. Ive never heard of anyone taking a govenor off a T/A.......

Think it depends what kind of tires your car came with. If you got trashy factory tires then you have a top speed limiter at like 140, but if you got z rated then there is none. You can look inside the doorjam and see what size tires you got from the factory.

Non Z-rated tires is ~110mph
Z-Rated is ~155 or ~162 depending on the year of car.
Both restrictions could be changed removed with an editor(The 'governer' is in the computer).
Why you would believe me over the other posts is beyond me, but these numbers are right regardless.

My car did come with W rated tires however. They were Goodyear Eagle F1 GS 275/40WR17

I know of yet another tuner coming out too.
Not the EFIlive guys or HPtuners.com. 04 should be an interesting year for tuning.

wtf?, I've burried my needle past the 155 mark all the way to the steering column, didnt get any type of popping or stutter, it felt like it would keep climbing(not bone stock engine set up of corse), is there a possiblity that not all ls1's have speed limiters?, mines a 98 z28 6 speed

Are you still running through the PCM??? Did you get a 'tune'? Yours could be disabled.
