C6Z, Kirban and MGW are the norm. All are improvement over stock. If you search these in this forum and others you will have reading information for days. Good luck and in my opinion you would be happy with any of the 3. But read and read some more, these plenty of opinions on this topic.

I hated the stock shifter too... You could hear wind gusts from the throw being so long. The day I bought my 03 and ordered a new shifter.

It depends on what you plan to do with your car though. For road racing or daily driving, I recommend the RSD Snap Shifter. I have it and it's ******* great! If you're going to be drag racing, you're going to want something like the MGW which is super short.

The main difference between the two is that when you're road racing, you want to know exactly what gear you're in and you need a little time between shifts, and when you're drag racing you want the shortest throw with the least amount of time between shifts.

The RSD Snap Shifter is short and feels great. Basically, it's a modified 2009+ C6Z shifter. It's been shortened, angled and threaded. I have a video of me using the Snap shifter if you want to see it.

I've used other shifters like the Hurst and Breathless Performance shifters. I'm not a fan. The MGW is super short and it's a little hard to tell where you're shifter is if you were zoned out while you were driving. LOL But it's certainly the shortest I've seen that's actually still daily drivable.

No experience w/ aftermarket C5 shifters but I really like the C6Z shifter in my C5Z.

Mine had B&M when I bought it. It was very notchy but quick shifts. Tries the C6 next. Liked the **** but too long of throws. Then tried the RDS snap shifter. Really short and precise, but a little tight for dd, but was great at the track except for one thing - the C6 shifter is angled back some whereas the C5 is straight up and down. When I put racing seats in car, my elbow would hit seat on the 3rd to 4th shift with C6 and RSD. Sold them both for MGW. It is tight and close, but haven't got it on the track yet. HTH.

I installed the B&M, great shifter except for parking lots when trying to get it in reverse.

Next installed the MGW...best move I made. Shifts like glass in all gears.

I have a MGW shifter and it's not short at all. I think they make two different lengths.

MGW.

I'd get the race **** though. I have the "gripper" and it gets so hot in the summer you can't touch it.

I have had a Hurst in my car since a few months after I bought it. The throws are short and precise. I have since shortened the stick by about an inch and did my own version of the "Anti-Venom" mod to the trans which really got rid of some of the "notchiness".
I absoultely hated the stock shifter, the throws were way too long and it was a sloppy POS. I have tried others in friends cars such as the MGW, B&M sport shifter, Breathless etc. Personally, I think that they are all good and don't have any problems shifting any of them or finding reverse or sixth.
As far as them all being notchy, that's true, but I like it! Shifters are kinda like exhaust systems in that it's all a matter of what each individual likes.
Very subjective for sure! my .02 pennies FWIW

Definitely some truth to that. I know C6Z guys who upgrade to the MGW so I find it interesting to see the C6Z shifter as an option being used for the C5. I guess we all want just a little bit more than what we have.

BPP short throw. Best shifter I have ever driven with! Holding on to it for when I get my C6Z. You can adjust the shifter and the spring stiffness, so you can put it and adjust it to what YOU like.

Hurst - Adjustable stops and adjustable spring pressures for left and right throw.
