Default question about oil galley plug,barbel?

im installing the oil galley plug on the back of the motor,is the back of the plug suppose to be flush with the block surface?thanks

the barbell restrictor sticks out a little bit and the o ring end toward the back of the engine

Yeah the one I took out stuck out a little bit,the new one when I put in was flush with the back of the block!wanted to make sure that's ok!!!

I know my GM service manual says it's suppose to be slightly recessed.

After running a few minutes it will push out till it hits the back cover as it can't go any further and it is designed that way so you are good.

To the OP, is this what you mean? I'm running into the same problem




It pretty much stops where it hits the o-ring and the back part of the heads sticks out just a bit of the block. I didn't want to put the cover on until I knew for sure.

Just want to double check. So is this fine then???

Nice photo. But mine doesn't go all the way in as it gets caught up on the o-ring part. Would I just tap it in with a hammer or something?

put a little oil on the o-ring to lube it. You dont want to tear the o-ring.
