Default Turn signal(right direction only) rarely works.

My turn signals always worked, then over about a year, it seems that the right turn signal has gone from working, to working to half the time(seemed like if I had it on for a little too long instead of a 5 second lane change, like if I'm waiting at a light to turn with the blinker on), to working maybe 2 times out of a whole week, and then going back to not working right away.

Left side works great, without any problems. Friend of mine said he can occasionally see my right rear signal stay on when I hit the switch.

None of the bulbs are burnt out, it just seems to have gone from fully functional, to rarely working.

I thought maybe it was a relay, but then wouldn't both signals not work? Could it be the actual turn signal lever itself?

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
check with voltmeter for continunity and resistance. Check flasher/fuses/relay and lastly turn signal switch unit in column.. Good luck you should locate problem quickly this way. Good luck and have a blessed day........jim

Was starting to do it, now it's working exactly like it's supposed to. No matter how long I leave it on now.

Damn Fbodies are ******* infuriating sometimes with the **** they do electronics wise.

You just need a new flasher. The different sides of the car have different resistance due to different lengths of wire. This causes the thermal flasher to behave differently. I have several new ones, if you'd like one. (I just went to electronic flashers and have some spares on hand.)

Sounds like a possible bad flasher.

Yea its the flasher, I noticed the rear turn signal works halfass when its not flashing the arrow(acts as if the front bulb was burnt out)

Thanks everyone, guess I'll pick up a flasher tomorrow.

Actually, are the flasher units the same from 93-02 on camaros? None of the junkyards near me ever have 98-02 fbodies, but usually at least a couple 93-97 models. Maybe I'll just pull a few when I head over there.

They should be the same since flashers are sized by the number of bulbs they operate.
