3:73's or 3000 stall first?

Either will work. Personally, I wouldn't stall first, as those 2.73's would make the stall seem a bit too loose for my liking. Plus, if/when you decide to cam the car down the road, you don't want to be limited by a potentially undersized converter (ideally you'd choose your cam/stall conjunctively).

Yeah I just read the forum page. It's say's to try the stall first, but I hear so many people stating how their gears made all the difference...This is a true daily driver and I think the gears would give me the accelaration I'm looking for from red light to red light..ya know...I might get a cam, but I'm in the process of getting all the boltons completed..bought this 99 TA from a woman last year with 45,000 miles bone stock ..very good condition..I have around 3,000$ to do exhaust, gears, tune, and LABOR

I'll only be able to do one...and with 2:73s I think the jump to 3:73s will really wake up my car and make the difference..I do so much city driving...I think I would just be reving the **** out engine all day and not even really see what the converter can do until I get to my 3 mile road to my house..with all the stop and go's I'm thinkin those gears would kick *** and break my neck

The question has to do with driveability. The converter will give you more outright WOT gains than the gears. But driveability won't be so great with the looseness due to 2.73's. 3.73's will enhance your everyday driveability and make your car much more enjoyable around town.
I would do gears first and then think about the converter. You may end up wanting to go higher than 3000 after the gears.

That's what I'm thinking...I'll never see the benifit of a converter driving from stoplight to stoplight in city driving, I'll be flooring it all over town just to slam on the brakes...I want the 0-45 get up and go over the 20-70 mph range.

You know a converter helps you everywhere, especially from a dig right? My car was downright anemic from a dig/low roll with the stock stall, after I put the 3600 in it ******* roasts the tires. You'll probably want some decent tires if you get a stall, mines are bald lol.

I agree the stall can wait...I think I'll enjoy the new gears first..these 2:73 suck ***....I have new kumos...can't even do a burn out unless it rains....I want to feel what everyone else talks about when they've done their 2:73 to 3:73 swap...I don't think the stall would be a great option on these gears

The forums write up on converters is what struck my question...The forum recomended it first..but from what everyone say's about the jump in gears,,,,,I just wanted to make sure my a few people agreed...I don't want to spend money backwards ya know
