Cam opinions for 3400 stall?
I am really thinking of going with the 228r from all I have read about it. Also my car has 39,000 miles so I was thinking I really don't need to change the lifters or the oil pump. I will be getting a tsp cam kit no matter what cam I go with because they have good deals. I want to go with the single beehive springs good to .650 lift wich would be plenty for the 228r. You guys think the 228r will be good with my setup? It is a dd alot of the time so I don't want to completely kill the gas mileage. If anyone thinks a different cam from tsp would be better and make more power than the 228r with the 3400 stall let me know. Another reason I don't want to go with a huge cam is because I don't want to shift my car over 6400rpm's. So keep that in mind also. As you can see i am kinda set on the 228r so im looking for anybody who wants to prove that a different tsp cam would be better.... Or anybody who thinks the 228r will do great, than let me know that to!

I would definetley look into eps cams they seem to make great power and are very easy on the valvetrain. They have a 222/226 and a 226/230 cam that are both proven to make great power and torque. Why not contact Pat G or Geoff on here and have them custom spec you a cam to your car its only 25 bucks to have them do it and it will be custom specd according to what you want.

No offense but why a mail order tune? Sure its a little cheaper but it wont be as reliable or safe for the engine as a dyno tune and a good dyno tune will make more power. Plus its not like abolt on car where one kind of tune will usually work a cam requires a lot more specific tuning to each car than bolt ons plus you have a stall int eh car. Either way a good tuner like frost should be able to tune a cam with custom specs because he has done so many you could call and ask him or pm him hes a great guy and will answer any questions you have. But also and like i said im not trying to be a dick but choosing a cam around your tuning options doesnt sound like a great idea. How far is a good tuner from you?

Do a TR228, TR230, or a 228R and your good. If you want to go off the beaten path some, go with the Cam Motion 228/232, but you'd need to run dual springs. Dont believe this is good advice.....look at this:

Well you dont have to spin to any rpm. You should look at cams who make peak power under your desired shift rpm. You would be fine with the V2 or the V3 IMO.

A 228 cam is plenty big enough. The first h/c fbody in the tens was around a 224 .588 114 iirc.
I ran the times in my Sig with a 226/228 .588 114.
No just because you have a custom grind doesnt mean you need more of a custom tune. Frost could get you setup good im sure.
I would be talking to pat g if i were you. It would be 25 well spent dollars. Plus his is something that will make a huge impact on the var.. I'd rather spend an extra hundred now and be happy a year down the road then save a hundred and regret it in a year.
