Default 375hp? +/-

Rebuilt stock bore LT1, (deleted egr, smog, cats) Pacesetter LT w/Y-pipe, Crane 227 cam, LE1 budget heads, 1.6rr, 918 springs, mail tune (lt1pcmtuning) and 3600 stall. Just trying to get baseline numbers. **Yes, sorry, 94 Z28, A4, 3600 stall, 3.23 gears. I am asking for crank HP #'s @ sea level, **

Getting back on putting the Camaro back together after 2 years in the corner of the garage. I'm between spray or boost but base numbers will be needed for my decision. The Engine Shop said 410-420 but I thought that was very high.

Throwing in a cheap B&M 3600 stall.

I have it laying here NIB (swapped for truck manifolds a few years back). I figured why not "cost me nothing". Are they really that bad that for free I shouldn't throw it in while the engine is already out.

Sell it, buy a Yank SS 3600. You'll appreciate your car a lot more.

320rwhp

Agreed that the B&M stall is a joke at best, I would keep a stock converter first.

I wish when folks do a project this big they would actually try and do it right, a lot of work and money to be halfassing it.

For sale or trade B&M 3600 stall.......................

320-370rwhp is a huge range. 96 you think 385hp would be the crank hp assuming 20% DL loss?

We have relatively little flywheel hp data, so few LT1s are tested that way and reported. That is why I answered in RWHP.

The 350+guesses are an uneducated pipe dream. It is possible to do over 420rwhp through an A4 with heads and cam which leads everyone to inflate their expectations. You are using an OLD torque cam with a low level head, there is no legitimate reason to think it will make a big HP number.

That was the answer I was looking for, (385hp / 14.7 ) =26.19 X 7 (psi) + 385na =568fwhp 20% DL loss/455whp
385hp na + mp70 @ 7psi = 455rwhp. (perfect). Thank you

I know B&M isn't popular on the late model forums, but alot of my buddies have run them over the years deep into the 11's. Granted that was in TH350/TH400 cars, but for free vs a pricey Yank I think it's a decent choice. Even seen a few cheap Midwest converters perform well for the money in 4L60's.

Free vs $850+ IMO, depends on how much you want your wallet to burn. I'm not saying B&M is my first choice, or third, or sixth, but I'm not sure a expensive Yank is what you need to meet your goals. Perhaps sell the B&M and look into Edge which is a good middle ground.

I'm going to agree with MGR on that cam with ported heads, I can't say a 210 intake duration is what I'd be sticking in there...

You're on acid. Hotcam only cars dyno 320. He should be 360ish.

Not that dyno numbers mean a damn thing anyway.

Eh, I'm just going by their website and I wish everyone would stop trying to make it sound like the Crane 227 is going to put everyone into the mid to low 11's. Just because it's been done once, doesn't make it the norm. I think everyone can agree there are wiser choices to be made on a cam than that.
