Grab some coffee and a doughnut - this is a bit long but entertaining.

First off let me say I have alot of respect for LEO's. Their job is stressful and very dangerous. Most Officers are retired military so I would willingly give those guys my last supper- and smile.

I meanNOT to bash LEO's on this post, just sharing an experience that left me a bit... well.. asking... WTF was up with THAT! - just weird.

It's JUST a Camaro!

So I'm driving down the highway heading west in my 2011 SS, about 10 pm -ish, at posted speed of 60 (I was around 63mph) when I see a state trooper pull onto the highway from the side emergency lane.

My state of mind at the time was relaxed, I had just left the Medical center and the wife and kids are tired/sleepy. I'm not worried about the Trooper one bit. I have a clean record and there was no reason he would be pulling me over.

Then, from my passenger side mirrors, I see this car hauling *** going about 75-80 MPH. The driver starts to blow past me AND the Trooper (the cop was Two lanes over about 1/2 car length behind me) but he breaks hard right next to the cop. ( he obviously did not see the trooper until he was right on him)

My wife and I are saying "Damn! he's going to get sooo busted" but the cop does'nt even react. So, about 15 seconds pass and then the cop hauls *** forward then breaks hard to slow down and cuts across two lanes behind me and hits his lights.

Uh... WTF? I have no warrants and I just saw a guy getting stupid on the highway RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE COP.

So I remain calm. I'm not worried on bit, whatever it is, it's minor.

So when I stopped, I did my usual routine - Roll the windows down put both hands on the wheel and sit still. no sudden movements.

Officer: Any reason you don't have your front license plate? (he called it something else but I knew what he was asking about)

Me (respectfully): Uhm, well, I have not had the opportunity to put it on.

Officer: Well I don't see why not, I can understand if it were a Corvette or Ferrari, but it's JUST a Camaro.

Uhhhhhhhh. Whuuuuuut? LOL @ Officer
are you kidding. LMAO?! WOW! (I was floored)

I could not help but laugh but hold it in as much as I could. I looked over to my wife and she was smirking and was as dumbfounded as I was.

Officer: Drivers license and insurance please. You understand it's against the law to not have a front license plate?

Me: Yes sir.

Officer: Why have you not put it on?

Me: Well... (cut me off)

Officer: Do you still live at the current address?

Me: No. we ju... (cut me off)

Officer: Why have you not updated it on your drivers license?

Me: We just moved, I have not updated my drivers licence but everything else has been.

Officer: How long ago did you move?

Me: September

Officer: Wait here. (He went to his patrol car)

I turned to my wife: Wow! He must drive a mustang and is tired of loosing

(he comes back...)

Officer: Im going to write you a warning. If you tell me you are not going to put your front plate on I'm going to write you a citation.

Me: Well, (wincing) I don't want to lie to you officer, but I will do what I can.

Officer: If you tell me NO, I'm going to write you a citation.

My wife whispers... *say yes, say yes!*

Me: Uh... (holding back) yes?

We get back on 290 and about a minute later I see police lights come on (about 10 cars back)

to wife: oop! he got someone else!

He ends up not pulling anyone over, Just blowes by me probably 80-90ish Alllll the way down the highway

Hey I was driving back to SA from Fredericksburg and I passed a Super Trooper that was going North 87. He turned around and pulled me over for no plate.

I looked shocked and told him he must have missed it. Little did he know I used the retractable plate while he was walking up to the car. He said really, I must have missed it? I said it is on the lower right of the front bumper. He went and checked it out and said he was sorry, he had missed it…

******* with these guys is a blast dude. You need to get retractable plate.

About hundred bucks and is stupid easy to put in. Check out Ebay and search "Blue Oval"

Why wouldn't it?
It's not car specific.
Simple mount and wire in a power source. They make manual ones too, but that'd be hard to "trick" a cop with.

I would imagine that the worst that they could do in the instance that they DID actually figure out that it's a motorized piece would just be to write you the no front plate ticket. They can only write tickets based upon what's written in the books as motor vehicle violations
