Yes they are different. SBC rods are offset .030-.035 away from the fillet. LS1 rods are centered on the rod throw. Cylinder bank offset is different on LSx vs SBC.

If I may ask Erik what would you recomend for clearance from the small end of the rod to the piston boss? Going to run a Mahle 383 piston and Scat I beam and I'm hoping to not have any issues.

Thanks,
Ed

The SCAT I-beam you were looking at is offset 0.015".

It's more important to maintain proper side clearance of the wrist pin to the spirolocks. Or so I was told...

Depends on piston's pin boss spacing and width on the rod and the piston. The Wisecos for instance are about 1.140-1.150 and the ICR SCAT I-Beams for instance are .960 wide so there is more than .080-.100 on each side so even with some offset you are good. On a rod with a 1.060 wide small end it starts getting much closer. We just do what it takes to make it happy.

Sounds like it should fit without problems and I've seen a couple Mahle/scat i-beam combos running around here(just not the 383 Mahle piston). I'll be keeping an eye on it during the build process. Thanks for the info though.

These rods are made by Competition products, are full C.N.C'd good to 800 H.P and weigh 607g.I am not sure if they make a L.S rod.I am giving you old school small block info. The scats you are talking about are my second choice if they don't make l.s. rods..Thanks
