The biggest i put on is 255/50/16. Usually 245s are what people put on though, but 255s work great for me. There was a thread on here if you search youll prob find it, where people were saying they put alot bigger on for DRs but id say 255..

Yeah, I tried searching but searching for anything with wheels gives you a million and a half results, LOL.

Biggest tired I seen, and recommended by BF goodrich as well, was 295/50/16 on a 16x8 wheel. I had em, I loved them, Back to 245s though, till I get my 275/55/16 M&H.

Get some different rims if you want wide tires, or even if you don't ha the 16s have got to go.

I mean I really do want to get some wheels and tires, but the tires still have at least 90% thread left. I just cant see getting all that stuff when I don't need it. I was just curious to see what people have gone with. I'm STILL lost with what kind of wheels I want to go with.

Idk if it was safe, but It was a recommended tire size for a 16x8 wheel.

I'm rather amazed that here in recent times that some guys really like that bubbly tire look.

The OE 16" wheels are 8" wide.

Just my $0.02 worth...245/50 is about as wide as I'd go.

In fact, back when the LT1 cars were new, '93-'97, GoodYear was OKing rims up to 9.5" wide, with the 245/50s. Then they cut back to 8.5" as the max width, something to do with some European standard, according to what one of TireRack's techs told me back then. Having said that, I had a set of 16x9.5" rims back then on my Z-28, first with Goodyear GS-Cs, then Pirelli P700 SuperSports.

I agree!

Look at the Formula 1 race cars...they have tires with what appears to be 14-15" of tread width, on rims about 18" wide.

Well, if they have 90% why would you want to replace them anyways? If you want to get new tires I would just go with new rims, 16s are too small on these cars IMO.

I fell in love with these tires.
Now I want a 275/55/16 M&H drag radial.

315's look and work just fine on the 17's , as long as they are Nitto 555R's.
Those are the only 315's that work OK. Seen it many times on the Cobra and F-body wheels and they work fine and do not bulge.
