Default LT1s running skinnys on the street

Hey guys im wondering what all you guys have experienced running a 15x4 skinny up front on your LT1 cars. Im running a set of 17x9 TT2s and very bored as everyone using them and want a change. Looking at a set of BS Street Lite 15x4 and 15x10s for an awesome deal. Just wondering if they are unsafe under hard sudden braking and or corner if it shall arrise? It will be a weekend car and track only so ill maybe put 3k a summer on them. Wondering what you guys running them on the street have to day bad or good.

I run a 15x3.5" Pro Star on the street, but my car is not a DD. The narrower you get, handling and safety are drastically reduced. A narrower wheel is not made to take the lateral forces of hard-cornering. This can really weaken the wheel over time if driven aggressively enough and can cause a serious accident. My suggestion is if you run a wheel that thin, keep it in mind while you're driving at ALL TIMES

I run them on mine. I have only put 300 Miles on mine in the past 3 years. It should be fine unless you are in the rain due to insufficient contact surface.

I have those on my car. For the most part I dont notice a big difference, I drive in town alot. If you do have to hit the brakes hard the fronts still lock up with ABS and dont slow down quickly with the reduced friction. Another thing is potholes you will taco a front wheel easily. My .02

I've been doing it for over a year and have never had a problem. Just remember you have them on there and don't try and drive it like an autocross car and you'll be fine

You can, but you have to watch for bumps hardcore, and your car won't handle at all... what's the point in that? I can see if it's a track only car and you want to take it out every now and then...

i did it for awhile while my truck dd was down. its not a big deal as long as respect the fact that it doesnt corner and stop anymore. so dont drive like a jacka** and you will be fine. its not something id do if i had other rims and tires though

You would benefit from an ABS delete with an adjustable proportioning valve if you intend to keep the car like that.

It wont handle very well but as long as you realize that you should be fine.

I just cruise when i do drive it on the street and when i get on it then its in a straight line. I just dont want it to ride like and handle like ****. Main concern is braking i dont want to be on the hwy or something and have to come to fast stop from a higher speed and cause an accident. I think im going to just stick with a normal street rim/tire combo and have my a set of stickies mounted on stockers for when i go to the track.

another thing you might want to consider is the tire thats going on that front rim. spend the little extra money and get a good set, like MT sportsman pro or something like that. had a buddy have a blow out with some cheapie front tires, luckily no major damage.

When I buy some drag radials I'm going to just have them mounted on the stock rims, easy on/off when you want to take it to the strip.

been doin it for over 3 years DDing up until recently

15x3.5 prostars in the front, just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be alright.

I have no problems braking at all, the handling isnt bad but nothing like it was. I would also get radial tires if your gonna drive it more than race it. I had ET fronts and they sucked on the street, my new Sportsman fronts are 10000X better but still a bias ply tire.

That's true. Back in the 70's everyone ran them, some even ran slicks, till they got caught. I saw many people leave a stop sign on the rear wheels. That was awesome $hit.

you'll be fine i put 15k on my car in a year with p165r15 15x4 racestars and nitto drag radials on the back. Drive normal, dont fly over speed bumps, and dont brake hard in the rain or you will lock up the front.

Exactly why I don't run skinnies. I'd be the moron forgetting and trying to take a corner at 5 lateral g's...

Funny story... **** talk was a plenty between a person I knew and someone he wanted to race. They get to the spot where they were going to race. Person I know (No, not a friend. Just a person I know. I'm trying real hard not to call him a dumbfuck.) started out doing his burnout. As he was doing his burnout, he failed to notice the car pushed itself onto a curb and he tacoed his skinny. The other guy was gracious enough to have someone drive his car and trailer the dumbf...personIknow's car home.
