I have a magnetic base kit from "MHC" that I bought. It just so happens that the shaft that screws into the base is M8 X 1.25mm, which is the same thread as the rocker bolts. So I just screw the shaft that is normally screwed into the magnetic base right into the head. It works great.

I just got a 5/8 piece of tubing and a M8x1.25 bolt about 4"-5" long and used that. On my comp cam indicator it fit right in the clamp and held steady the entire time. Cost about 20 cents to make since I go the tubing from work.
