Oil Pump
I'm about to do heads and cam on my Trans Am and I'm going to put the Torquer 2 in my Camaro. When I did my cam swap I put a TSP ported pump in my Trans Am and I still have the stock pump out of my Trans Am. Would it be worth it to put the pump from the T/A in the Camaro. The T/A had around 70,000 on it and the Camaro has around 115,000. I'm going to change the timing chain to a LS2 while its apart just wondering if it'd be worth it to use the old pump or get a new one. thanks

Ill be honest with you and say that If you are not gonna Put a new pump in I really dont see any advantage to putting the pump wth less miles on it in. If the pump is working fine now It is Just as good as the one you have sitting. If you really wanna get deep pull the covers off and inspect them, use the one you feel more comfortable with.

Hi,
i concur with the above. It is a no-no on a used pump unless this is not a viable option, in my opinion. Exercise proper caution when trying to save $$$.
Sometimes it cost us more in the long run.good luck and have a blessed day.

The Trans am always kept more oil pressure. I thought there was a difference in the pump between model years from 00 to 02. I'll probably just put a new one in for some insurance. Thanks

Hi,
don't forget the o-ring (use caution to avoid pinching/nicking which will RESULT in lower oil pressures. Use proper installation procedures to avoid problems. Have a great week-end and good luck............have a blessed day.........jim
