Default how harsh is the transgo HD 2 shift kit for DD?

I currently have a 4l60e transmission with a shift kit. Dont know what kind itwas installed by the previous owner. Daily driving is a pain 1-2 shifts feels like if someone hit you from behind 2-3 isnt so bad. I was thinking about changing to the transgo HD2 shift kit. I hear great things but is it going to give me the same harsh low RPM shifts?

Do ya have any way to check the tuning to see if pressures have been increased?
I have the HD2 kit in mine & I love it.

There's more to it than simply 'swapping in the kit' tho.
Start with the check on the tuning maybe?

sounds like the B&M "bang shift" kit.

I installed one of those during my teen years. When it shifts out of first it feels like you got hit in the back of the head with a dump truck. Was cool for a short bit at that young age.

The only way the 1-2 would be harsh with a Transgo is if someone stacked 2 or 3 washers in the 2nd gear accummulator. You can inspect that and see. If that's the case, go down to none or at most one and problem solved. If there are no washers and your tranny shifts like it does, then you have some other kind of shift kit or someone jacked the line pressures way high.

If the 1-2 accumulator valve assembly is installed upside down you will have a harsh 1-2 shift. Also I would only recommend .082 on the 2nd gear feed hole. As mention above the amount of washers in the 1-2 accumulator can be an issue as well. Depending on your stall speed in some cases it is best to return the factory accumulator piston setup back to stock as well. If you are not familiar with anything I mentioned I would recommend taking to someone qualified to check this stuff out for you. As far as transmission line pressure at idle in gear you should be somewhere between 70-90psi at normal operating temps. Home this helps. Vince

Ages ago I had an IROC Z with the works in the tranny. It would ****** sideways with part throttle shifts. I loved it, made me smile every time.

Yea at first it was fun but its been getting annoying. Some people ask me if my transmission is broken because of how hard it shifts.
