purchasing my cam, what else will i need?

Default purchasing my cam, what else will i need?

I got a cam speced for my LQ9

I need the cam for $409

but what else do i need. Comp recommends there beehive springs and pushrods, says they are a must. Do i need anything else?

LQ9 with 317 heads.
car will be running performer RPM dual plane intake, stall, 700r4 headers, and the cam

grind # 3718/3705hr110+4

damn was hoping to avoid all of that ha.

the only thing kicking my *** is rewiring this hoe. I may get some cash together and get some of you LS1tech guys to give me a hand.

Yeah you definitely want to do it right the first time. Say you get the cam installed and after a few miles one of your lifters breaks. Your new cam is basically destroyed.

if you are mechanically inclined and its not too high mileage you can get away with valvesprings and pushrods.

Cam, valvesprings, and pushrods are all you NEED... everything else like the timing chain, oil pump, and lifters are optional. Don't chimp out on the valvesprings, get some patriot duals, beehive springs suck.

Depending on miles, I would upgrade as much as possible when at it. Oil pump, lifters, rods, chain, etc.

seats and retainers for the springs if you can't use the factory ones

Cam. pushrods, valve springs are the neccesities, oil pump timing set are easy to swap since your there. As for the lifters that requires a bunch more work and parts, you'll need head gaskets and bolts for the lifter swap, also dont forget a front cover gasket set for the cam swap.

Also do not use beehive valve springs use Patriot part number 8401 or an equvalent double spring.

Im going to try lol, this is all a learning experience for me. I got pretty much every tool i should need. And catch on fast. I will end up finding a friend i can trust to do solid work come help if i can.
