Car needs a major tune up. What exactly does that entail?

Default Car needs a major tune up. What exactly does that entail?

As the title reads, my 2000 Z28 needs a major tune up. My Z has needed it for quite some time. Not too long I had the transmission serviced and I also changed the fuel filter. (Forgot to mention it at first, but I also recently had the differential, oil and filter, changed)

Other than the obvious, what else does it entail?

Spark plugs
Wires
Oxygen sensors
Oil/filter
Engine flush
Coolant flush

Thanks,

Joel

Yeah, you just listed almost everything you can do. Could always run some cleaner thru the fuel injectors, if you suspect it may help. Buy a can of Mass Air Flow Sensor cleaner and follow the instructions.

I woooooodn't change the 02 sensors unless you are having a problem with them.

hi,
i concur with the other post for your tune. however, you may notice a learning curve after cleaning the maf/throttle body/injectors. often times it takes a few cycles to relearn proper idle.good luck make sure to gap plugs to specs and use anti-seize on plug threads. you will probably need to remove coil pack on passenger side rear #8 plug. a small piece of vacuum hose makes installation easier on plug install. use caution to avoid injury to back of hands
when working near firewall and plastic cover for windshield wipers.have a blessed day...........

Thanks for your help! I don't have any issues with my O2 sensors... I'm not getting any codes. That's a big relief.. that's about $100 that I'm saving.

You should do your brake fluid if possible. MOST people never touch their brake fluid...

I forgot to mention that I also had the differential oil and filter changed. Yeah, I hadn't thought about the break fluid.

Thanks

I would change the 02 sensors. You'd be surprised, you may see gas mileage go up. Usually I consider a pretty good tune up as:

Plugs, wires, all belts, pcv valve (02s every 50-100k)...air filter, fuel filter...oil, trans fluid and filter (gear oil and flush the brakes every 50-100k)...timing chain/belt and water pump at 100k.

And change the fuel filter as well.
