Default Saying bye to the V :-(

Well after 2 years and nearly 20k miles on my V I am saying goodbye to her..I love this car more than any car I have ever owned, but she doesn't get the job done in inclement weather..I hate to see it go but Carmax, of all places, has offered me a good deal on the car to take it off my hands..my next purchase will be a pickup truck, most likely a diesel..thanks to everyone on ls1tech for all the knowledge I have gained on my car! The V will surely be hard to top when I buy another muscle car!

^Indeed. I keep my 99 aurora around for rain/snow/hail duty and seadoo towing. I think it's only worth about $3k now but to me it is much more because of how well it goes through snow. It's got 148k miles on it but the engine still runs like new and transmission shifts perfectly. For 2-3k you could get a spare car just like it...and mine isn't even a beater... baby northstar v8, cadillac luxury, leather, sunroof, and easily gets 28 mpg on highway.

The point is there are plenty of decent FWD cars out there that can be had on the cheap and go through snow like it is nothing.

Keep the V and get a beater Jeep for the bad weather. I have a 2000 Grand Cherokee that I use when the weather is nasty, and the V the rest of the time.

Keep the V, I got a 2000 Altima for free with a blow motor, then picked up a new motor off craigslist with 80k for $300. I just drive that beater around in the deep snow.

The Lord has blessed me with the Best Son ever and Toys. I just picked up a 2006 2500HD with a Duramax that is lifted. Almost everyone told me stay with gas it is not worth it expect for people who owned one. Let me tell you beside going from Fondu Loc WI to Chitown at 80-85 mph and averaging almost 20 mpg the power is GREAT.

Now if I were you I would keep the V, put collector insurance on it (mine cost $368 for the year with a stated value of $26,000.00 and I can drive it upto 6000 miles a year) and go get a used 2004-2006 low mile 2500HD (Best years for power and MPG) if you get a 2006 it has a 100,000 mile warrty and get a aftermarket one that pays the repair shop direct and then you have the Best of Both Worlds. I got mine a LT with 6" lift, Bigger tires, Warrty for $32,000.00...

If you Love the car as much as it sounds you will regret it.

I dont regret my v sale for my Duramax (background) and as for 4.50$ a gallon I found a way to combat that...

Say hello to my 1982 1.8L ISUZU DIESEL POWERED 5 SPEED CHEVETTE!

50 MPGS and reliable as anything I've ever drove. Everything works on this gem too.

notice the V shirt! Her memory lives!

Nice truck, mine is Silver.

More power to you on the Chevette, I remember those.

On the gas thing Diesel is for the most part in my area the same
as 93. My firend took me up to get my truck driving a AWD Denailli
getting 13.7 mpg. I plan to put Propane injection on my truck which
will give it about another 5 mpg and another 100 hp and tq for almost
500 hp and 750 tq.

Since you have the V and you know it inside and out you will never replace
it for what you will sell it for, keep it and have 2 toys for the price of a new
truck payment because I think you also want to have a truck too.

Ford Freestyle FTW. I would not sell it just get a reasonable DD to drive in the winter. You will regret selling it by the sound of it. Plus when you do get to drive it again, it is like having a new car all over again!!

She's actually sitting right here and I let her read the comment......She says she's game, but she refuses to live anywhere that it's cold....So Gulf Coast and she's yours....You could put the Vette in the back of Max....Boat in tow and it's DUE SOUTH down I-65 on your way.
