Default aesthetic mods...?

So I am thinking before I go power crazy... Get teh car looking the way I want it to.

What does everyone have and what do you think of it?

I am thinking cowl hood and some rear spoiler(probably lip style)


Please post pictures and reviews. Especially of the hoods(which are mostly Fiberglass right?) how they held up, any gripes or issues I need to know of.

lowered, factory spoiler, tinted tail lights



hid fogs, clear fogs, clear side markers, stupid stickers on headlights to hide scratches, and chrome stockers.



aluminum shift ****, aluminum arm rest caps

^^ the hood on that black V looks sick, not worth the money to me though.

My main concerns is fitment and quality of the specter Werks stuff... as well as overall look.

Like if order their Cowl hood... is it really a direct replacement with OEM level fitment? Can I order it, paint it and install it and have it look 100% or are some lines off?

Does it use the stock hood catch and how well does it lock.

Prone to breaking? Fiberglass is not THAT strong sometimes.

Spectre makes great products but you pay for them. I have no doubt their hood would fit like factory.

IMO first mod should be some type of axles and long tubes.

gonna wait on the extended platium warranty for those two. DOtn plan on drag racing the car, so why the need for axles?

Im more interested in a Light Weight FW and a clutch. The stock FW is SOOOO heavy.. I find myself shifting too fast for it to drop revs.... Not very smooth shifting. Just so heavy it seems to take forever to lose RPMs with the clutch in.

Your still gonna hop on the street, id say more rears have gone on the street then at the track. Your call though, id go with an econo axle(one side) just to eliminate the hop.

Clutch isnt a bad idea but my motto is if it aint broke dont fix it as far as the clutch goes, mine is smooth as can be its prolly something you just have to get used to. Just remember as well, lighter flywheel= tune which voids your powertrain warranty. You drop 25lbs off the clutch combo and driveability isnt gonna be too good without a tune.

How do the axles effect wheel hop?

Pictures of your spoiler please?


Im worried with a aftermarket hood of inconsistant and over sized/uneven gaps and lines. I am VERY **** abotu **** like that.

you'll get the hang of the stock clutch. it really is not that bad considering that the after-market is a crap shoot.. lots of reported problem with just about every set up.. well maybe not the Ls9. i hear good things about the monster stage 2, LS7 kit from scroogie is only 500$. just make sure to do the research, make up. if you know how to drive the Stock clutch will last 100k+ and hold all the power you can throw at it with bolt-ons.

I get hop in the rain.. so axles are not a bad mod for a DD its just that extra reassurance that you wont stress the diff unneededly

All after-market hoods will need some body shop attention because they come primed.. these Fiberglass hoods are HEAVY .. much heavier then stock but look good when they are put on by a good shop + they are cheap...

Eh, I wanna say I paid around $250...the dealer I got it from had screwed alot of crap up on the car when it was first in for warranty work so I got their cost for it...was nice that it came painted too.

Im still on the fence abotu the spoiler... Just not sure it works for me on this car...

but that picture of the black one with the cowl hood is one of the reasons I got a CTS-V

Yes, and it latches exactly like stock.

Don't know about the fiberglass, but my carbon fiber version seems very strong, and it actually feels slightly lighter than our stock aluminum hoods (which are super light to begin with).

I did exactly that and did not have the car re-tuned and have absolutely no driveability issues. It's quite the opposite actually, it drives much better now than before. Shifts are smoother, quicker, more precise, and I have even found myself hitting the rev-limiter a few times where I never used to.

Bottom line, you DON'T need a tune after just installing a light fw and clutch setup.
