You need to use head gaskets for at least a 4" bore. You should look into picking up a set of GM 6.2L 5 layer MLS gaskets. You also need new head bolts, you didn't mention that. As you stated you need to swap the oil pan, pick up tube, windage tray, and dipstick from your LS1 along with all the front acc's. Since the heads are coming off and LS6 heads are going on, there is no better time to install a cam...

Wouldn't hurt to tap a new hole for the alternator bracket if I recall correctly (to completely use the f-body accessories).

Good point. I've actually used two different iron blocks and had the LS1 front acc's without tapping additional holes. As long as you use the little L-bracket for the back of the alt. I had one go over 50k miles like that without a single issue. But adding the additonal hole is a better idea I agree.

Head studs depend on year of block. Some are equal lenght while others are the short and long

All pre-'04 blocks need the head bolt set with long and short bolts. '04+ blocks need the set with all short bolts.

As for your cam, the term streetable is a relative term. But I would recommend getting a cam in the low 230's duration. Something like the Torquer 2 or the Futral F13.

You can stick a skinny screw driver down the bolt holes and figure out which set you'll need
