Nitrous Timing Retard using MSD Optispark Distributor?
Hey guys,
Just wanted some input on this.......
Looking for a way to retard the timing when I add nitrous to my car in the next few weeks. I was originally looking at adding an MSD or Mallory ignition box to do it, but could I just use the MSD Optispark's adjustable timing to perform the same function? Max NOS would be a 150 shot.
I already have the distributor so it wouldn't cost me anything to do it. The car is out of state having a motor put in and NOS installed. If I could save the extra expense of the ignition box and install, it would probabaly save $500.00.
I can always put it in myself at a later date when it comes home.
Thanks for any input.

The timing adjuster is not a reliable piece though and you would need to fab a pointer and degree the damper which would pretty much also mandate a keyed hub. To do that well you will spend what you would on a Mallory box.
Just do the Mallory box and then you have the window switch and spark based rev limiters which are huge engine safeties.

I run a Dig 6 box that has 2 rpm limits(stage and max) and a NX retard.
