Default Is this right depth rearmain seal

Is this the right depth on seal LSX REARPLATE?It's a 1/8 inch off the bottom of plate This is how I found it,Seems to me oil would set in that groove with seal not tapped all the way down,chime in please.......Thanks see pics replacing the seal wanta do it right..........

As long as it is in the housing it should work fine, I would press it all the way down just so it cannot move if it gets loose. The aluminum housing does expand.

I just finished a forged 347 for my buddy, and I seated the seal in the bottom of the cover. Everything is doing well.
