Default i wasn't aware that the LT1 is a 265 cu in DOHC v8

so i was at a small car cruise last night (without my car, i'm in FL right now) and there was a guy with a 95 caprice and i told him i had a 95 t/a with an LT1 and he said his had the same motor. i asked him if his car was a 9C1 and he said it wasnt, to which i replied, oh you must have the optional engine upgrade since most caprices had the L99. he goes "I don't know what an L99 is but mines an LT1, a DOHC 265 V8, the 350 was an LT2"

i tried to correct him and tell him that the 265 is not dohc and that it's an L99 and that the LT1 was a 350 and he claimed he had rebuilt his motor and knew exactly what it was and i didn't know what i was talking about. i decided not to get into an argument with him, but i dunno where he was getting his information from.

I bet his engine rebuild work consisted of changing the plugs and wires.

i once talked to a guy coming out of a class at my college and he was wearing a ford tech jacket so i told him i had a 93 supercoupe and he was like "oh the supercharged 6 right?" and i said "yeah all of them were" and he tried to tell me some were turbo, but he wasn't talking about the turbo 4 in the turbo coupe but rather the 89-91 SC had a turbo 6 and that they changed over to a supercharger for 1992. i tried to correct him but he was sure they offered a turbocharged supercoupe. my only hope was that he wasn't the dude who changed the distributor module when it was at that dealer a few months before that for service.

well truthfully, he was right about the 265. the 4.3L L99 aka baby LT1 was a 265 but it was a pushrod just like the LT1.

SWEETTTTT - my first car was an 88 Turbo Coupe. Fun car and good pick up for a 4 banger. Black with red interior - I loved that car.
