They're for automatic transmissions. Pretty simple, pretty strong, and pretty pricey. You might get more feedback on the automatic forum, T56s wouldn't benefit from one.

That I question, as for some big power cars, they do break. Also heavy and extra race weight.

As for the OP T-56 has a 0.50 6th gear!?! I mean how much O/D do you need.

What do you call the big hp car ? and heavy ?

if i put it behind a t56 i would use it in the 1-4 th gear so i didnt have to put alot of power on the over drive gears.

I was think of installling so it would shift into overdriver at 7k rpms and drop out the sec i push the clutch in to up shift to the next gear.

I don't believe you can even bolt one of these units to a T56. These units replace the extension housing on automatic transmission. The T56 extenion housing houses 5th, 6th and reverse so there would be no way to install this unit on to the back of a T56. I checked out their website and I didn't see any applications for 5 or 6 speed transmission. For manual transmissions they only offer applications for 3 and 4 speed manuals without overdrive.

If your making over 600 Horse is considered beyone the realm of the stock block, and heavy is 3500+ race weight.

There have been some that want a TH400 but put the GV behind it to give them some streetability but strength. Beyond 1000 hp both the T-56, TH350/400, 4L80e and 6L80e all have relaibility issue anyways.

So long story short is before the advent of using 4L80e as a transmission option, the only other set ups that give O/D was 700R4/4L60e which were and always are questionable reliability beyond 600 horse, or a TH350/400 backed up by a GV which has been smoked by higher HP set ups.

There is some compromise now today but you cant have your cake and eat it.

Also for the t-56 thing, i would agree, i never seen anyone do it and I was speaking hypothetically that smaller then 6th gear 0.50 ratio would be pointless.

Im floating around 1000RWHP and heavy at 3800lbs. Im trying to figure out how to get the power to the ground and still have a very streetable car.

The only reason id want it behind a t56 is so i dont have to boost in the the over drive gears. and to shorten the drive shaft a little.

But might be looking at a th400 the GV unit . Or ill just keep the T56 and have alot of spares around
