Default Tuners- Help With Idle Surge On Big Cam A4

I recently had a head/cam install on my 02 Z28. The car has an idle surge only in park and neutral, and occassionally in drive. Idle is about 800 in drive, but fells great. Also notice a lot of rich smell. What needs to be changed to help the idle surge to go away in park. I thought I found a good thread about timming, and VE tables, but can't find it now. Just trying to help my tuner come up with solutions. Again, I know I read a post, but cannot find it now to save my life. Please be specific, as I am not doing the tuning. My tuner did a bad a** job, but I can't stand that park/neutral surge. 232/236 .595/.601 on 114 with xer advance. Thanks.

Adjustmens will have to be made to........

Main VE Table
IAC Park Position
Idle Air In Gear
Decay Rate P/N
High Octane Advance Table

He needs to adjust each of the above tables to your car and the surging and such will go away. You *should* be able to get a cam that size to be very livable..... little to no surging etc....

I believe NoGo gets credit for this.

oh yea, very good info there but i noticed that he did not say anything about drilling the TB hole. is this how you get it to idle without doing that. on another thread i read that with a cam of this size, you might need to go to a 1/4 bit. well after drilling mine several sizes over and over and over again, i eventualy went to this point and it made a hugh difference. i still get a little bit of surging which i will fix as soon as i buy another LS1edit cable but right now it is not really that bad at all.

I really dont want to drill. I am told the PCM will relearn that anyway. I know that the tuner is educated, but what about that smell? The IAC count the main thing that causes the surging in idle? Is the IAC changed seperatly for park and drive?

You don't have to drill the TB on an F-body.

The IAC tables will primarily control how much air is admitted to your engine to make it idle.

I checked my IAC counts with a Tech 2, they are 54 in drive, bounce around 20-35 in park. The LTFT's are at 15, 17 % in park. This affecting anything? After it idles a few minutes in park, it stutters pretty hard.

Well 54 is not too bad in drive, you can either lean out the base fuel or add more timing, but I'd try to lean out the base so you can have better fuel economy.
