Default Losing interest. Should I sell or part out?

Well I've had my T/A for about 7 years and she hasn't really been on the street for a while now. Basically I have no more time, patience, or room for it and when I do get have that again - I don't want something that's dinged up. Right now it's having a starter/battery issue that I just don't want to deal with but would be a simple fix.

It's got 121k on it, body is a 6/10 and interior is about the same. Just refreshed almost all of the seals on the engine so it's an LT1 with no external leaks, but there's some oil that gets on a couple of the plugs whenever I check them after they've been sitting for awhile. I'll have to take phone pics if that will help be a deciding factor, but it may be the weekend before I can get to that.

What do you guys think? If I parted it out I would want to sell the engine/T56 as a whole with the harness/computer (b/c it just gets messy trying to get rid of all those little engine bay parts), then sell whatever I can off the interior/body and either scrap it or sell the roller (I have the clear title on hand). Could I sell it outright for more than I could part it for? I'm thinking $1,500 for the engine/tranny and maybe another $1,000 for odds and ends, plus $1,000 for the rolling chassis (generous probably).

Edit: Oh I do have an engine pic after the refresh, nothing has changed since.

Yeah $1000 for the roller probably is a bit high. A friend let his formula roller go for $500 or less, and that left with KMC sixty eight wheels, a rebuildable engine with a 503 comp cam, upgraded springs/rockers.(I think the oil shaft broke, guy probably threw new bearings in and went on down the road.) Only things that didn't go with that car were the transmission and the fans.

Id put it away and forget about it. Trust me on this one. You will sell it/part it out because you are frustrated now, but down the road you will begin to miss the car more and more. If you still have it, then you have some motivation to work on it and will enjoy wrenching on it.

Mothball it, cover it and forget about it. Someday you'll get the itch again and it will be right there for you. Don't be that old guy telling the young kids, "I used to have a Trans/Am when I was your age....."

Don't let a small problem like that be a reason to give up the car. All the time and money you've invested would be for nothing...hold on to it!

Yea, I hear you guys. But in about a year I won't have a place to store it :/ Everybody in my family is pissy about it, and I figure that I could make enough money to buy another one pretty quick b/c we all know how high LT cars are going these days

You live in Texas and you are worried about a place to store it? Put it in your backyard behind the garage.

It will break your heart taking your car apart and selling it piece by piece.

I started going down this road then stopped before it was too late. The little that was removed and/or sold got the best of me. A lot easier to talk about than actually parting it out. It's a shitty feeling.

It doesn't sound like you will get much more than 3k for it any route you go. If you like it, keep it. If you are done with it, sell the thing whole.

This. I hate to hear people ripping apart perfectly good cars for parts.

I say if you're really tired of it, maybe you just need something new to get your interest, but don't part it out. I bet there's some young kid who has a little more time on his hands, who would love to buy a complete car, running car at a good price even if it has a few problem.

I was at this point just these two past weeks. I made the decision to just keep it, and keep going forward with my plans to build the engine.

I'll buy my Corvette later, when I'm shitting money.
