Default venturi feed ststem

im using a fuel pump from a plastic tank 2000 v6 car in a metal tank from a 96 z28. right now the venturi part of the pump isnt hooked up to anything and is pretty much blocked off by the fuel bucket. is this going to cause any problems?

It may, but I would more concerned that the bottom of the pump does not properly fit in the plastic fuel bucket. This can lead to fuel starvation issues.

Personally I would get the correct parts.

the two pumps are identical to each other other than the one from the plastic tank has the venturi port at the top but the rest is the same it fits perfect into the bucket

Typically the bottom of the pumps are different diameters.

I would check things carefully.

they were exactly the same the black o ring from the bucket fit perfectly onto the bottom of the other pump. is the venturi port being blocked off going to cause more of a strain on the pump?
