I had a performance shop install a cc503 cam, ls7 lifters, push rods,comp valve springs and 1.6RR and shortly after 250 miles or so the motor starting making noise from the valve cover area. Upon valve cover removal there was no oil coming up through the push rods. We thought the lifters had failed so they replaced the ls7's with my OE lifters and reassembled. They had plenty of oil coming through the push rods so they reinstalled the valve covers and after a short period of time the noise was back........ The shop (owner is a good friend of mine) told me that the rr are hitting the valve cover and creating the issue. I have taller aftermarket valve covers on the car and I've not come across this in my research...... anyone else have a problem like this?

With aftermarket tall covers no. People run then on stock covers, myself included. Sounds like something else is going on. The RR noise would be immediate, it would not pop up after 200 miles

Ive always clearanced the drip rails on stock VC's and never had issues. Sounds like something much more severe in your case.

The aftermarket valve covers are aluminam and i know they are thicker but they can't be that thick.... what else could be the problem?

Maybe the re itself? He bought summit brand re such would not be my first choice
