Gears & Axles - 145 mph in the 1/4

I am expecting my car to run around 145 in the 1/4.
I have a Turbo 400 with brake.
What is the tallest and widest tire I can put on a 98 Z28 and what gear would be good for that tire?

might wanna post this in the drag racing section? or maybe a mod will slide it on over somewhere it SHOULD be

hot damn! you should register with http://forums.badrap.us/ - that is the tampa bay drag racers! when are you testing your car out? BMP i assume? i used to live just north of fort myers. i would also run a 28W tire (ET Drag) as that is what most of the guys nearing the 150 mph mark run.

I will check out that site as I am sure I will get involved there soon.
Testing will start middle of March and I am gearing up for the Brethless shootout on April 4th.
I will keep everyone posted.
I would like to run a 28x12x15 ET Drag. I am sure hooking will be a problem on the trans brake.
Should be fun.

If you dont mind me asking ,what kind of et are you expecting? How about 60 foot?

I am expecting a low to mid 9 with a 1.3x 60 ft.
It is a high compression 410 Cubic inch with a bunch a juice, and a T-400 with trans brake.
I weigh about 3350 with me included.
I am not sure how fast I will go but figured 145 would be a good guess. I really think 142-143 will be closer but dont want to buy the wrong setup and screw myself.

with 1.3 60 times who did your suspension tuning/work?

I bought the car with the syspension done.
I am sure I will have to adjust some things to get it to hook, but everything is there.
There is damn near every after market part under this car.
The tune will be done by Jeremy @ fasterpromps, right there in your neck of the woods. He has done about 20 cars down here in Ft. Myers over the past 5 months and everyone is happy.
He comes down once every month or so and stays at my house and we hit the dyno in the morning and get some cars tuned.

Hopefully everything goes as planned. (yeah right like I could ever get that lucky)

well shoot me an email when you want to come up here. i know Jeremy and i live close to his shop. at 145 mph, you are going to need some chasis tuning! hp alone wont get you very far at big levels.
