Default Hood cable

Ok, so my car is 12 years old. What could I do if one day I pull on the hood release to open the hood, and the cable snaps. How would I get the hood opened? Just trying to stay one step ahead.

Well, if it broke in the cabin you could remove the cable from the handle, and then cut sheath end off and pull the cable with a set of pliars. Now if it breaks under the hood thats a whole other story, Perhaps you could run a piece of cable down thru the nose and let it hang or store it somewhere. That way if yours broke you could pull the emergency one. Personally I say if you are really worried about it,, Replace it now before it gets you..
