Th400 Trans fluid...?

Th400 Trans fluid...? seems everybody has their own opinion as to what to use. So lets hear some more....lol
Got someone I trust very much pointing me in the Redline direction....but i dont know if I want to spend 150 bucks on fluid.
trans builder recommends basic dexron 4-6 oddly enough kinda hard to find(local parts stores) or its 7 bucks a bottle
Now has anybody used TCI trickshift? 20 bucks a gallon....cant seem to dredge up any user info...just the throat deep company info.
Obviously price is my concern, but torching a $1700 trans isnt worth saving 50 bucks either

I recommend regular Dexron II non-synthetic in the average use unit.
In the more serious stuff, particularly a transbrake or high rpm application, I like the "tractor trans/hyd fluid" in the low viscosity.
It last longer in a shear environment, i.e. a high stall converter on the brake, high rpm pumping.
I've seen/smelt burnt ATF, when none of the frictions were burnt in some applications, and the fluid temp never got excessively hot.
The tractor fluid seems to stop or at least delay this.

So....a trans brake and a 5500 stall would prefer tractor hydr fluid? Lol....
My car will see very few street miles, but I do drive it on occasions if that plays a role

Yea...that's why tractor fluid is on the bottom of my list. Anybody have experience with the TCI fluid? 3 gallons for 50 bucks....IF I'll be changing it Alot. I figures once a year. Maybe 5 track visits and 100mi at most is my yearly usage

i've got the regular hy-gard in mine right now, trying to tighten up the converter as much as I can with this current motor setup. Regular Dex III was doing ok on the 'brake and street driving with this heat generating spragless converter I have in this thing. Running 2 big plate coolers tho.

Hmmm.....it honestly seem everything I've been told works fine. Always have to make things harder then they are lol.... Rather be safe then Sorry
