Default 1/4 times?

alright...last summer i ran a 72 Mach 1 in the chevelle and lost BAD traction problem...although while spinning tire til almost outa 2nd gear we were door to door till he hit the nitrous i still only lost by a fender...anyways he ran 11.4 at the track i was tellin someone with traction i woulda anhiliated him...so that means i should be in the 10s..the person i was taklin to says "1/4 mile times mean nothing on ths street...a 10 sec car can loose to a 14 sec car"

I'm confused... you're saying you think your car can run 10's?

I'll agree totally, track times don't always apply on the street. You're comparing a prepped surface to streets that can vary on how they hook. I've seen a mid 12 second car with m/t sportsman pros just plain murder cars that have run faster ets on the street b/c he can hook up and they can't. 4 tenths is about 3-4 car lengths. Running 10s is something people talk about but don't usually have. also if he's running 11.4s on spray that was probably a full pass and you said he didn't hit the spray until you were in 2nd gear and next to him. By that time, he's only cutting maybe 4-5 tenths off his time so I'd say your car might be as fast as his with both having equal traction and him spraying the entire pass. But that's why you speculate on the street; at the track the et's don't lie!
