Attention Sponsors - I'm in need of Pistons
I am running out of room in my PM Box so I'll just post a thread, lol...
Anyways... I need to have pistons made for my 450 stroker and right now, I don't care with which Company I go with, since they are all top manufactures... right now, it is about the BEST PRICE!!!
I want to try and give my business to a sponsor here, Florida guys first , but if I find a better price outside of the community, I will go with them, that is unless one of you guy can match
And I want to make it clear, I want the piston in a 2618.
This is a cut and past from the PMs I am sending out.
I need to have custom pistons made up so I've been talking to the guys at Wiseco, CP, JE & Arias. They advised me to talk to a dealer to get the best prices since they would have to sell to me at retail. They have all the info on my pistons, but I will include a spec sheet that Vic @ Wiseco emailed me, it will be the same info that all 4 Co will have.
Now the final specs are not in stone yet, I still need to get some info for them, but this will at least get me a price.
Below I is the info to get a hold of the guys I talked to. Just tell them it's the guy with the LS motor and these specs for quick referencing, lol, they know me NOW, lol.... Oh and Mike at CP gave me a reference # to his notes in the system, see the info for CP below.
Quick Specs:
Bore: 4.165
Stroke: 4.125
Rod: 6.125
=================
Wiseco - Vic - 18003211364
J&E - Gary - 7148989764
CP - Mike (Ref# 22257) - 9495679000
Arias - Mike - 3105329737

Wiseco makes a piston very similar to what youre after, unless youre dead set on that specific, obscure combo.
PN-K462X155
It's a special non tapered skirt design for longer strokes in stock deck blocks.
4.155 bore 4.125 stroke for 447 CI
2618 alloy
You can run an off the shelf 6.125 rod instead of 6.12 like youre after
Best of all .. they stock it
Question? If youre ordering a custom piston that is already going to have a short compresison height.. why order one that is going to have you cut your deck .020 for zero deck? Why not add .025 to the pistons compression height for strength and safety and leave the deck alone?
What block are you going to run?

Damn, the rod is a 6.125, glad you pointed that out, sorry about that.
The block is a LS1 with Darton MID wet sleeved; it's already bore to a 4.165 and the deck is a 9.22 so there is no choice.
I was suggested on running a 6" rod, but they guys @ Wiseco and the others said bad Idea.

Yeah, Erik is an awesome guy! I really wanted him to build my setup, but it is just too much in shipping to send everything over
He is one that I am going to PM directly.
I was looking for 10:1, but the top of the piston is getting too thin with anything more than a -20cc dish, plus I was thinking of juicing it for 200, but that doesn't seem like an option I will have. Why, what are your concerns about running a 10.5:1?

You're right Bro, but since I am focusing on only the top manufacturers of pistons, I know that any of them will do the right job and that's why it is coming down to price

With the short compression height you're going to have at around:
((4.125 / 2) + 6.125) - 9.22 = 1.0325 at a zero deck or 1.0425 with .010 OOH.
You'll be able to spray on the piston, but the tune and design of the piston are going to be the limiting factors. In a power adder application piston taper, pin, and ring location are important. Get Erik to design you a set of pistons and you'll be much happier in the long run.

Erik can get you pretty much any pistons you'd like. I personally like Wiseco for a few reasons; cost, GFX ring package, coated skirts, etc... Even with the heat of the area and other circumstances I think you're shooting too low on the SCR. I can pretty much assume Erik will tell you the standard number he likes to run is around 11.25:1.
