Default 1 wire alternator for an LS engine?

I've searched and ended up quite frustrated as the threads usually involve modifying the stock alternator, or people say to just use the harness and resistors and excitors and whatnot.

What I'm looking for is:

1 wire alternator, around 100amp (self-grounds to engine block, 1 wire to starter; i don't care if it self-excites at 1000rpm or 2000rpm or whatever)

no connecting into any harness, just connect an 8ga wire to your starter and go

no modifying an existing alternator to convert it

That's it .... apparently this is a hard request

Build a bracket for it and let it ride. Whats the problem

BTW, how is soldering one resistor inline and hooking that wire to a 12v IGN source difficult?

Just go to Summit Racing and buy a 1-wire 100 amp alternator with a 6-rib pulley.....

Lots of people run 1 wire alternators on LS motors. There is nothing special about LS motors. All you need to do is bolt it to the car in such a way that the belt won't come off.

This guy took the alternator off his BBC and made a bracket to mount it to his LS

Just realize that one wire alternators don't regulate voltage as well as units with a voltage sensing wire hooked into the main harness.

Any local starter & alternator shop worth their salt can take your factory LS alternator and convert it to a one wire set up. All they do is install what is called a "self exciting" regulator inside. Viola, you have exactly what you need.

I was hoping that there was a common use this sbf (for example) 1 wire alt with this Metco (for example) bracket and everything'll line up perfectly fine.

No - I don't want to drop it off with some guy I don't know and hope they hacked into my alternator properly. No thank you.

Here you go. Buy this install kit and it will save you $2.05 off the shop price of converting to a one wire alternator
