Question how much motor angle is too much

have a 65 el camino with stock ride height.we're setting a lsx with a h3 oil pan and a 4l60e in place. the front of the oil pan hits the steering link when you turn the wheels lock to lock and the trans is lifted as high as possible.the angle on the crank pulley is 6 degrees.when i lift the motor to clear the steering i have 9 degrees, this cant be good.am i needing a steering rack so i can lower the motor or is there a better pan that will fix this motor angle.
